In a collaborative effort between the Research Synergy Foundation and FKIP Universitas Mulawarman, the Developing Excellent Research Proposal Workshop 2024 was held at the Swiss Belhotel Balikpapan on the 17th and 18th of February 2024. This workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop high-quality research proposals.
Day One: 17th February 2024
The first day of the workshop commenced with an introduction to research issues and problems, setting the stage for the participants to understand the importance of identifying and formulating research problems. This was followed by an individual exercise where participants identified research issues and problems relevant to their field of study.
Dr. Rasmitadila led the session on formulating research objectives, emphasizing the importance of clear and achievable objectives in research proposals. Participants then engaged in an individual exercise to formulate their research objectives.
The afternoon session focused on developing a conceptual framework in education research, highlighting its significance in guiding the research process. An individual exercise allowed participants to apply the concepts learned by developing their conceptual framework.
The day concluded with a session on research proposal writing with AI ethically, where Dr. Rasmitadila demonstrated how artificial intelligence can be used ethically to enhance research proposal writing. Participants then had the opportunity to practice writing their research proposals with AI assistance.
Day Two: 18th February 2024
The second day of the workshop delved into the various types of research methodologies, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to align their chosen methodology with their research objectives and questions. An individual exercise followed, where participants defined the research methodology in their proposals.
The session on data collection, data analysis, and interpretation focused on both quantitative and qualitative research methods, offering insights into best practices for collecting and analyzing data. Participants engaged in an exercise to apply these methods to their research proposals.
Ethical considerations in education research were discussed, highlighting the importance of conducting research ethically and responsibly. Participants then worked on writing their research proposals in PowerPoint, covering chapters 1-3.
The workshop concluded with individual presentations of participants’ research proposals, followed by feedback from Dr. Hendrati Dwi Mulyaningsih. This provided participants with valuable insights and suggestions for improving their proposals.
Overall, the Developing Excellent Research Proposal Workshop 2024 was a resounding success, providing participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to develop high-quality research proposals.
