Turning Ideas into Published Work: Intensive Class Systematic Literature Review November Batch

We are excited to announce the successful completion of “Session 1 of the Intensive Class: Intensive Class: Writing A Systematic Literature Review & Publishing in International Journal, November Batch” which took place on November 7, 2024. The session began with an engaging introduction by Ani Wahyu Rachmawati, S.Psi., M.S.M., who set an inspiring tone for the attendees. After the opening remarks, the session focused on the core principles of Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR), breaking down the essential components that contribute to a well-executed review.

Setyowati Triastuti Utami, Ph.D., from Gadjah Mada University, led an insightful session on formulating research questions and objectives. She emphasized how clear research objectives are critical in guiding and refining any study. Dr. Triastuti shared strategies on how well-defined objectives enhance a study’s focus and clarity. Participants also engaged in a hands-on exercise to practice formulating and refining their research objectives, fostering collaboration and ensuring that their objectives were aligned with their overall research goals.

The second session, held on November 14, 2024, focused on Search Strategies for Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR). Participants learned effective search methods and explored various databases and search engines used in literature searches. The session covered how to build search strings with keywords, Boolean operators, and truncation techniques, providing participants with essential tools to navigate the vast landscape of academic literature.

On November 21, 2024, the third session focused on the Study Selection Process. Participants learned the importance of applying strong criteria for selecting studies and how to screen literature effectively, including developing both inclusion and exclusion criteria. The session also covered the data extraction process, showing attendees how to systematically gather data from selected studies, while also teaching them how to create and maintain data extraction forms for consistency.

The fourth session, on November 28, 2024, provided an opportunity for deeper discussions on the key stages of conducting systematic reviews. Topics included refining research questions, applying literature search strategies, and extracting data with precision.

Each meeting was accompanied by homework assignments designed to reinforce the concepts discussed. These assignments encouraged participants to apply what they had learned and prepare for their final papers. By the end of the course, participants were expected to submit high-quality papers that demonstrate their understanding and application of the systematic literature review process. This final task underscored the importance of critical thinking, rigorous analysis, and adherence to methodological standards, providing a platform for showcasing their research skills and opening doors for potential publication. This experience highlighted the significance of quality research in advancing knowledge and contributing meaningfully to their fields.
